The NBJFL is comprised of youth football programs in Northern Bergen County, and programs from surrounding geographic areas, all of whom are fully committed to our mission: providing every participant, player or cheerleader, with a fun, safe, competitive, and memorable youth football experience.
The NBJFL is widely considered the “best youth football league in the state of New Jersey,” and we are proud of the reputation we have created as a result of the commitment to fair play, sportsmanship, safety, and the creation of competitive parity for every member of our league. Programs in our league include the towns of: Fairlawn,, Mahwah, Montville, Northern Highlands, Oakland, Paramus, Ramsey, River Dell, Ridgewood, Totowa, Washington Township, Wayne PAL, West Milford, and Wyckoff.
The programs in our league are diverse in terms of demographics and program size, but the common denominator which enables the NBJFL to be “the best youth football league in New Jersey” is our unique approach to “programs together, programs apart.” Every decision the NBJFL makes is based solely in the best interest of every member of our league. In fact, a major focus area is the manner in which we view the season as three (3) successful parts: pre-season, regular season, and post-season.
Pre-season: At the onset of the season, the NBJFL hosts a free football clinic for every participant in our league, which is led by the Varsity High School Football Coaches from each respective program in our league. In 2017, we had over 500 participants join together and enjoy a day of football.
Regular season: Simply put, we uniquely created an open scheduling system to ensure any and all programs play a schedule which fits the needs of their program best.
Post-season: (A) At the conclusion of the regular season, a committee objectively ranks each program by level, from most competitive to least competitive (based on regular season results), and as a result, multiple post-season brackets are created to ensure “like-competitive” teams play one another (in the same divisional brackets) in an effort to provide a post-season which benefits all programs. (B) At the conclusion of the playoffs, we organize a NBJFL All-Star Game. Participants from every program participate, and coaches from every program join together to put an exclamation point on a successful season for all programs in the NBJFL. nbjfl.org/
